Overview:
 
This position is responsible for securing appointments to support sales of memberships, renewals, advisory work, custom benchmarking, vendor sponsored research, conference sponsors and data licenses for professional service firm territory. The focus will primarily be identifying and contacting, through direct phone-based sales channels, key process owners within various business functions (i.e., Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain, Knowledge Management) and practice leads while also responding to Marketo leads. Additionally, this position will entail working in excel to create sample size reports for data licensing opportunities to support the entire PS Firm team.  This position will require collaboration with the APQC professional service firm team, Open Standards and marketing department and occasionally other APQC departments as needed. This position requires a basic understanding of the different functional areas of mid-size and larger organizations and have a strong technical aptitude and attention to detail.  The candidate should be outgoing and willing to identify new opportunities, readily make contact with others, and quickly build rapport.

Compensation includes a base salary and incentive potential for meeting sales goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct lead generation, prospecting, and qualifying potential new clients and individuals within Professional Service and other industry Member and non-member accounts
  • Proactively schedule calls with perspective clients via phone and email (including cold calling)
  • Increase the number of contacts in APQC's customer database within assigned accounts through referrals, cold calls, follow-up phone calls, webinars, and other appropriate means
  • Build relationships and support the Professional service firm team in maintaining renewals and increasing retention rate
  • Increase use across territory to improve use of APQC membership
  • Responding to requests from customers as needed in courteous and professional manner
  • Research companies to identify new leads within PS member territory
  • Respond to requests from customers as needed in courteous and professional manner
  • Work in Excel to pull data and create price quotes for clients
  • Generate reports to support APQC members, and data licensing client
  • Work as a team member on multiple projects, meet timelines, and ensure project assignments are completed with high customer satisfaction
  • Engage in continuous training to improve skills
  • Manage time effectively to meet commitments 
  • Responding to requests from customers as needed in courteous and professional manner

Qualifications & Skills:
 
  • Inside/telephone sales experience
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong technical aptitude, prior Excel and pivot table experience a plus
  • Outgoing and friendly; able to quickly build professional rapport with individuals through various communications channels such as telephone and email
  • A minimum of 2 year in a professional selling role
  • Sales-oriented and goal-oriented, self-starting and able to work without constant supervision
  • Proven ability to get results and meet commitments
  • Ability to work individually and in a team
  • Previous experience selling intangibles a plus
  • College degree (in field) required
